Sequencing Core Facility - Equipment

  ABI Model 3130XL Genetic Analyzer

We run both sequencing reactions and fragment analyses on the 3130XL. Sequencing chemistry used is currently ABI Big Dye Terminator 3.1.

  AlphaImager Image Documentation System

A UV/Vis image documentation system. The system can also be used for counting (for example colony counting). Available to members for self-sevice use.

  iQ5 Real-Time PCR system

The iQ5 uses 96-well reaction format and up to five targets can be multiplexed in one well. Available to members for self-service use.

  Li-Cor 4300L DNA Analyzer

A multipurpose machine capable of DNA sequencing (1000-1200bp) and fragment analysis (microsatellite and AFLP). Available to members for self-service use.

  ND-1000 Spectrophotometer

Requires no cuvettes or capillaries. As little as 1 uL of sample required. UV/Vis. Available to members for self-service use.

  Agilent 2100 BioAnalyzer

Can be used for RNA, DNA, protein, or flow cytometry analyses. Available to members for self-service use. Chips and reagents are available upon request.

  Dell T710 Bioinformatics Server

Dual 6-core Xeion X5670 2.93 Ghz processors, 128 Gb of RAM, 12 Tb of SAS disks in RAID0 array with full NAC backup. Available to members for self-service use. Basic user support is provided to provide orientation to Linux and common bioinformatics tasks like sequence alignment and assembly and database searches.

  Beowolf - Class Computing Cluster

The cluster consists of 12 nodes with dual AMD Opteron 2210 1.8 Ghz dual core processors and 8 Gb of RAM per node and 4 terabytes of disk space. Available to members for self-service use. Basic user support is provided to provide orientation to the Rocks Cluster Operating system and basic bioinformatics applications.

Microarray Core Facility - Equipment

  GeneChip® Hybridization Oven 640

automates the hybridization process for up to 64 GeneChip probe arrays at one time. The oven provides precise temperature control to ensure successful hybridization, and cartridge rotation to provide continuous mixing.

  Two GeneChip® Fluidics Stations 450

are used for the wash and stain operation of Affymetrix GeneChip® arrays. Up to 4 GeneChip® arrays can be processed on each Fluidics Station.

  GeneChip Scanner 3000 7G Plus

is an advanced design that allows scanning ultra-high density microarrays with 2.5 μm resolution or better. Scans up to 48 arrays with an AutoLoader carousel.

Two Applied Biosystems Veriti™ thermal cyclers

are specifically designed to meet the needs of standard PCR along with PCR optimization in 96-well format.
